- Below are the products that have been selected for the ISPY in the Dragons’ Den session on Thursday.
- Part 1 is where each airline team will be seated around a table with one of our sponsors who will give them benefit of their experience in order to help fine tune the product
- Our Key sponsors will act as ‘Observers’ and they will be listening and asking questions throughout part 1
- At the end of part 1 they will select the products with the most potential to go through to Part 2 and face the Dragons in “ISPY in the Dragons’ Den”
- 10 product/equipment ideas will get the opportunity to face the Dragons
- If you plan to use a powerpoint presentation – you should have this ready on a memory stick
- It may be worth having your presentation in print to discuss in Part 1 around the table

- The finalists will then face questions from the Dragons

- The winner will be announced on Friday evening at the gala awards!

We are thrilled to announce the continuation of our very own version of the popular BBC television programme ‘Dragons' Den’. This programme features four extremely wealthy entrepreneurs who are willing to invest their own money in new businesses. People with new business ideas, products and or services ‘pitch’ their ideas to the Dragons and ask for investment to help them make their ideas ready to sell.
For the purpose of ISPY entries for this session can be any of the following;
- A brand new product which is suitable for Inflight Retail. It can be from any product category such as jewellery, watches, children's’ toys etc
- A brand new product which is suitable for Inflight Retail. It can be from a new product category
- A piece of equipment that would make it easier to sell inflight. It could be a more retail-friendly trolley, a special drawer, a trolley-top foldable display device, a computerized P.O.S. holding device, a pen-that-never-get-lost, whatever you once thought would have helped you provide a better service or build up sales. Neither engineers nor designers know your job better than you do!
This year Dragon’s den contest being sponsored by Uleotech, an engineering company specializing in manufacturing inflight retail equipment, the winner of the category could be offered a co-development scheme to develop and test prototypes of the winning concept and bring it to the market.
Entries should take into consideration the following:
- Airline
- Name of product
- Product category
- Brief description of product
- Brief description of packaging
- Approximate size
- Approximate weight
- Recommended inflight retail price
3 features and benefits
1 unique selling point
This initiative will enable the crew to demonstrate their overall knowledge of the in-flight retail industry, their creativity, and their ability to present their idea and themselves professionally and enthusiastically.
Each airline must submit a minimum of one entry and a maximum of three (one per crew member). One entry from each airline will go through to ‘Part 1’ of the competition.
Part 1 is where the crew, their management and one of our sponsors will have the opportunity to ‘fine tune’ their proposed product.
We will have ‘Advisors’ who will be also offering advice and they will select the products with the most potential to go through to Part 2.
Part 2 will take place after a refreshment break.
The selected products will be announced and the crew will be asked to present their product idea to the Dragons on stage.
Along with the Dragons everyone will have the opportunity to vote for the product they think will sell the most onboard.
We will notify those selected for part 1 prior to the event and this will be announced on the ISPY website.
Here are some guidelines to help crew with their entry.
Crew can either create/present their idea as an individual or with their fellow participating crew member(s).
Management should not be involved at this stage of the process
The entry form can be downloaded from the download area of the website
Entry forms must be sent or emailed to

no later than the Friday 23rd September
Products categories excluded are: Fragrances, Skincare, or Cosmetics

Please note that the Dragons' Den part of ISPY has no connection to the rest of the awards.
If your airline sends one entry per crew member, only one entry will go through to Dragons' Den - then if wanted all of the crew can work together to represent their airline.
